A few days ago, girls everywhere received an online invitation to Lanie Holland, our brand-new 2010 GOTY. According to this perticular picture, Lanie’s polo shirt seems to be a polo DRESS, a nice, knee-length one. Lanie is also accompanied by a small golden bunny with a leash. Her pet, maybe? It is official that Lanie is a “nature girl” by her invitation.
Looking for a place to go the weekend of January 1? Why don’t you head over to any American Girl Store across the country? But get their FAST…the first 100 girls each will get their own Lanie-inspired goody bag and a chance to win Lanie’s collection.
I wonder if they will have any kind of contest like they did with the previous dolls? For Nicki and Mia, they challenged girls to share their story to see if they were worthy to be “The Real Girl of The Year” and for Chrissa, girls entered a contest of making their own poster to help stop bullying, the guide line of Chrissa’s story. I was thinking, if they go along with Chrissa, that maybe Lanie’s poster idea will be about caring for the earth, and possibly ‘Going Green’.We’ll have to wait and see for the new fun and surprises Lanie will bring us! It’ll be fun to once again welcome a brand-new character to the world of AG, and American Girl Doll Central at that!

I am very excited about this doll! I have every single Girl of the Year so far. Sooner or later, I’m gonna run out of room to keep collecting them, but I am definitely buying Lanie. Are there going to be any “friend” dolls, like they did with Chrissa? I liked that idea a lot. And what about a Lanie movie? I know the AG movies haven’t been hugely successful, but I’ve enjoyed each one, and I hope they don’t stop making them.

That’s great that you collect GOTY dolls! Lanie seems like one of the cutest so far! I am ot sure if there will be any friend dolls. Most likely not, since it’s already December 28 and there hasn’t been a trace of one. The reason Chrissa had them was because her books had everything to do with friends and true friends and stuff. A movie- I don’t think so. I mean, they are making a Julie movie soon, I’ve heard. But a trace for a movie of Lanie would have already been on IMDb , and there hasn’t yet. I know, sorry to dissapoint you. But since Kirsten’s leaving, there is a rumor of a whole new doll coming out soon. Be on the lookout for her! Thanks, Madeline!
I can’t wait untill Lanie comes out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m going to get her for my birthday. Or around that time anyway. (I might be able to talk my mom into ordering her for me early!!!!!) I’m going to be so happy when I get her and I can add her to my collection! I know my 8 dolls and bitty baby will be so happy to meet her! As of right now I have Kailey Hopkins, Samantha Parkington, Nellie O’Malley, Emily Bennett, Kit Kitteredge, Rebecca Rubin, Mia St. Clair, Julie Albright and my bitty baby. And soon to be Lanie!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! That’s so cool, Julia. (Wow, My Lanie doll pictures on here have attracted a LOT of people, on my website AND on Youtube. I uploaded a video 18 hours ago of her, and it already had 140 views!!!) Congrats on getting Lanie for your B-Day! 🙂 That’ll be cool. PLus you have a cool collection of dolls. When I get Lanie, her full name will be Lanal Amanda Holland and we’ll call her “Lanie” for short!!! 😀
Thanks for the quick response to my questions, Madeline! I agree that Lanie looks like one of the best GOTY dolls so far! I love that this site managed to get a picture of her a few days early. By the time Christmas ends every year, I am always insanely eager to see the new American Girl doll! That’s too bad there won’t be any friend dolls, most likely, but I guess with Chrissa, a lot of it probably had to do with the movie they were promoting alongside it. That makes sense, I guess. Perhaps the Chrissa movie didn’t do as well as they expected, so they aren’t going to do another one for the GOTY dolls just yet…but I did hear about Julie’s story getting turned into a musical very soon, so that should be cool – something a little different. And if a new historical character is being introduced to replace Kirsten, that is great news too!
