American Girl Doll Blog-a-thon Idea! April 4, 2010

HAPPY EASTER! For an easter message, scroll down below this post.

Ok, so I was thinking the other day about something really cool, and I was wondering what you guys thought of my idea.

I first got the idea when I heard that Sarah (AKA stephenswodadancer) went to the American Girl Place. She told what day and time she was going to be there so her fans would get a chance to meet her. Well that made me think it would be nice if all the AG bloggers out here could meet EACHOTHER. For example, Quinlyn from Quinny&Co, Liz from AG fan, Hannah from Irishgirl, and those kind of people (and of course all of you fans). Well, I was thinking we could maybe create some sort of American Girl blog meeting or reunion or whatever you call it at the AG Place once a year or something. You know, we could like, reserve a private room in the AG cafe’ or something (which I know has got to be expensive, so we would have to all pitch in to pay) and have like a party and then go like shopping at the AG Place. Again, we could do this annually, maybe starting this year in the summer. I think that would be fun! It would be a safe way, too, since it’s not like we are giving home addresses or going to a stranger’s house or something.
I haven’t talked to AG or any other bloggers about this yet, so don’t get excited and be sure it will happen. I just thought I’d share the idea with you. Tell me what you think, and if you think it is a good idea!

I think it’s an AWESOME idea for bloggers to meet up at AG Place. The only thing is that I won’t be in America again til summer of 2011. So I don’t think it would work with me 😦 ! I still think that it’s a great idea though!!! You should try to work something out!!!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

You know, Hannah? If this DID work out, it may not be ready till after the summer. So possibly it wouldn’t happen until NEXT summer. And you could come then! If we did have one in 2010, we would miss you and pretend you are there-just invisible, LOL! 😉

      • hannie96 Says:

Yeah! Hehe! Maybe someday we can meet up at the AG Place! It would be really fun! 🙂

      • americangirldcentral Says:

Yah! I’ve never met someone from Ireland before, LOL! Just out of curiosity, were you born in Ireland or did you move there when you were little?

  2. Siobahn Says:

That would be a great idea! I have always wanted to go to AG Place! And it would be so cool to meet the other bloggers! That’s a very good idea and I LOVE it!!!!!!!!! Awesome!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

Thanks, Siobahn! (That’s a very pretty name, by the way!) I would love to meet you, LOL!

  3. Grace Says:

IDK. It sure sounds FUN but not very realistic. I mean, some girls might have $500 to spend, some girls nothing at all. It MIGHT cause fights. And what if some weirdo pretending to be, say, seven-year-old Tiffany is 35-year-old Jim?? And Jim is a criminal?? IDK. Its great Maddie (is that ok?) but not realistic. VERY CREATIVE though!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

Thank you. Of course, if a girl couldn’t afford it, we could help her out. And if a guy name Jim was pretending to be a girl, he wouldn’t show up. AG Place is a public, safe place, it’s not like we are giving out home addresses. But thanks for your opinion!

      • Grace Says:

But you do know that that would be like THE BEST THING EVER RIGHT??
What if he showed up anyway, just to be *gulp* creepy?
I would LOVE to meet Quinlyn and Joelle and you and Liz and all that that would ROOOOOOOCCCCKKKKKK!!!

      • americangirldcentral Says:

Yah! But why would Jim show up and get arrested? That would be dumb. But anyway I would like to meet you too!

  4. Grace Says:

Me? I wasn’t born in Ireland.
    Well…ummm…people are weird 😮
Well anyway I would LOVE to go there
Funny how we really are calling him Jim when he doesn’t exist 😛
Hey anyway-do you know where to find an original Millie doll (not the new version) CUZ I WANT HER SOOOOO BAD!!!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

Grace, I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to my friend Hannah. She lives in Ireland.

To find an original Millie Keith, search these places- TJ Maxx, Amazon, Family Christian Stores, and any doll stores. However, an original Millie could be very expensive. Good luck finding one, though!

  5. Grace Says:

Oh and thx Madeline! to see a pic of me and learn more about me go to my site!! 😀

  6. Anne Says:

I love the idea! But I don’t know if I could do it, as much as I want to. I mean the AG places are very far away from me and it would be very expensive. But I would love to meet the AG fans!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

First of all, we aren’t even 100% sure that the plan will come through. Hopefully, though. We don’t know where it will be yet if it happens, so we’ll talk with other people to see what works best for everyone. 😉

      • sarah Says:

are u homeschooled?i need a homeschool buddy or a email me at my mommy’s’s bye!!!

      • americangirldcentral Says:

Sarah, if you’d like to tell us how you found a way to de-frizz Salljoe’s hair and take pictures, I can share it on this website and give you credit! 🙂 And you couldn’t ever make me mad.If anyone in my family ever mentions “Chicago,”, “Atlanta”, “Minnianapolis”, or any other AG Place location, I’m like, ” LET’S GO TO THE AMERICAN GIRL PLACE WHILE WERE THERE!” Sadly I haven’t ever gone to the AG Place yet. I hope to go this summer!

I’m not homeschooled but I go to a christian private school so maybe I can still be your e-mail buddy, IDK.

      • sarah Says:

well i didn’t take pictures but i’ll tell you how.
You will need:a spray bottle filled with water,a doll brush,a small towel,a dish towel and a doll stand.
First, put your doll on the stand and wrap the towel around her body and clothes.
Next, put the dish towel on her face and tuck it in the bigger towel.
Then, separate her hair into four equal strands.
Next, lightly spray each strand of hair.
        Then,brush her hair.
        Finally,styleas you like.

      • americangirldcentral Says:

Maybe I can post this on my site! Thanks!

      • sarah Says:

please email me about new posts!!!bye!!!

      • americangirldcentral Says:

All you have to do to get updates on new posts is “Subscribe” to AGDC. There’s a button to do it on the sidebar!

  9. Grace Says:

Oh Madeline by original I didn’t mean the black-haired one sorry. I meant the one with the purple dress. 😉

  10. sarah Says:

ok.feel free to show pictures of you doing it with the doll you want to show:)!!!
also i made up a new hairstyle.its called “CRAZY BRAID!!!”
i think you mabey could put it on the same post as the defrizz one if u want to.heres how to do it.
You will need:2 ribbons,2 berrates,a doll brush and 4 doll hairbands.
First, separate her hair into four separate strands.
Next, braid each strand of hair and hold each one together with a hairband.
Then, hold the back two braids together with one of the ribbons.
Next, put the other ribbon on her hair like a headband and clip it together.

    SOOO cute!!!bye!!!

  11. sarah Says:

oh yeah can i call you maddie?

  12. Jasmine Says:

That’d be so much fun! Unfortunately, chances my parents are gonna drive me to an AG place (Who knows how far away) is 0.

    • americangirldcentral Says:

It’s ok if you can’t show up. We’d really like you to, though! Maybe they will drive you if they know how big this “could’ be with all the people coming. If it’s too expensive, we could try and help you out. The location: we have no idea yet but we are going to try to find the one that would be the easiest for majority of the girls going. I hope you will be able to come, though! 🙂

  13. sarah Says:

    i forgot.let me do it now k?bye!!!

  14. Grace Says:

    Guess what I found?
OK. I was cleaning my dolls and my sister whos younger gave me her baby doll to clean. I looked at the back of its neck and it said pleasant company! I have had that doll since i was younger!! So its REALLY OLD the pleasant company looks like it is OLD! it is really uneven and big, like the older doll has! SO IVE HAD AN AG DOLL, A BITTY BABY, SINCE I WAS LIKE 2! it has blond hair and blue grey eyes!!!

  15. sarah Says:

i just took out the braids from CRAZY BRAID and her hair is SOO wavvy and cute!!!bye!!!

    • americangirldcentral Says:

Aww! I think doll’s hair looks great all wavy and pretty!

      • sarah Says:

hi did but i brushed it and the waves came out.i’m about 2 make CRAZY BRAID in her hair and take it out tomarrow night.
the real reason i’m commenting now is to tell you that my mommy wants to see this site tomarrow so i can email you because some stuff i only want YOU to know and no one else on this site.just lettin ya know.
